Ms. Anderson-Towns attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and received a bachelor's degree in English and reading education and received a master’s degree in reading education and school administration from Rowan University. Over the course of her professional career, Ms. Anderson-Towns worked for several educational institutions including a high school in Dover, NJ, and Middle Township High School in Cape May County, NJ where she taught English. She served as Vice-Principal at Elementary School #2 in Middle Township, NJ, and Principal at Maud Abrams School in Lower Township, NJ. Her last position prior to retirement was Principal and Superintendent at Woodbine School District in Woodbine, NJ.
A servant leader in the community, Ms. Anderson-Towns is active in many organizations including being an honorary member of New Jersey Preschool for All — a non-profit education group focused on expanding preschool for all New Jersey children, Cape May County NAACP, Seeds of Kindness — a local philanthropic group, and the historic William J. Moore Scholarship Foundation. She is also a commissioner for the Cape May Housing Authority, a member of the non-profit, Cape May Cares, and is active at her church where she is a deacon, trustee and a church liaison to the Harriet Tubman Museum.
